There was a big bathtub, she would put another one inside with ice and she moved the cream for the ice-cream, the tigernut milk, iced lemonade or whatever needed to be cooled, as the movement cools down. It is especially important for the ice-cream, so that it would have a creamy texture and a lot of volume. Every day, they brought big amounts of ice cubes to be used, they were giant chunks. It was another world. I remember that my grandmother lifted big buckets.”
